A. Introduction
The Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) has permitted the use of controlled advertising on its websites:
Income generated from advertising on the sites will be used to subsidise the sites’ general upkeep and maintenance.
This policy is intended to provide guidelines as to the type of advertising that may be permitted and the technical standards associated with the display of those advertisements. Links to this policy will be displayed alongside all advertising placements.
B. General Principles
The placement of advertisements within the site will be coordinated to ensure they do not compromise the prime purpose and functionality of the website.
All advertisements are subject to approval before they are placed on STAT’s website. STAT reserves the right to refuse to promote any individual advertisement, which, in the opinion of STAT is considered inappropriate and not meeting the conditions below.
C. Conditions of advertising & Rates
C.1 General Conditions
- No ad or notification posted on the STAT websites on behalf of third parties implies official endorsement by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique.
- STAT is not responsible for the quality or reliability of the information included within any advertisement.
- STAT does not accept responsibility for errors, omissions or for any consequences arising when visiting third party websites.
- Posting an ad on the STAT websites does not imply automatic inclusion on the Upcoming Seminars & Workshops E-newsletter. If you wish to have your courses advertised via the above, please refer to the separate policy here.
C.2 STAT AT teachers’ ads
Subject to approval, STAT will post courses and other information related to the AT for free if submitted by a STAT teaching member, both on the public facing and members’ sections.
Individual publications, merchandise or other material sold by members of STAT, and intended for personal profit, will be posted in the members’ section of the website for a fee. The following fees will apply:
1. A flat rate of £30 for a one-off notification (date specific, e.g. a book-launch event, taking place within four (4) weeks from the date the ad is uploaded on the website)
2. For longer notifications:
- From 1-4 weeks - £30
- From 1-3 months - £50
- For 4-6 months - £60
- For 7-9 months - £70
- For 10-12 months - £80
3. All information to be removed following the expiry date.
4. All publications or merchandise will be AT related. STAT reserves the right to decline posting information if the connection with the AT is not direct.
C.3 Affiliated Societies teachers’ ads
Subject to approval, STAT will only post courses, merchandise/publication ads and other notifications intended for Teachers but not the general public. They will, therefore, be included in the Members Section of the main STAT Website and they will bear the text “advertisement”.
For courses intended for the general public, STAT teaching membership is required.
A short notification of a course (3 lines maximum) can be included in the notice board of the members section. This does apply for merchandise/publication ads. For a longer course description and for all other merchanidse/publication ads, the following will apply:
1. A flat rate of £30 for a one-off event/notification (date specific)
2. For longer events/notifications:
- From 1-4 weeks - £30
- From 1-3 months - £50
- For 4-6 months - £60
- For 7-9 months - £70
- For 10-12 months - £80
3. All information to be removed following the expiry date.
4. All information will be AT related. STAT reserves the right to decline posting information if the connection with the AT is not direct.
Note: Advertising submitted by Affiliated Societies (not individual members) will be posted for free, subject to approval.
C.4 Other Advertisers
- Subject to approval STAT will only post notifications intended for Teachers but not the general public. They will, therefore, be included in the Members’ Section of the main STAT Website.
The rates will be as follows:
1. A flat rate of £40 for a one-off event/notification (date specific)
2. For longer events/notifications:
- From 1-4 weeks - £40
- From 1-3 months - £60
- For 4-6 months - £70
- For 7-9 months - £80
- For 10-12 months - £90
3. All information to be removed following the expiry date.
4. Charitable organisations are eligible for reduced rates. Please contact the STAT office (stat@alexandertechnique.co.uk - 020 8885 6524) for more information.
Note: All rates given above are not subject to VAT.
D. Advertising Standards Authority
All advertising must adhere to any relevant regulations and code of practice of STAT. All adverts must also adhere to the codes of conduct laid down by the Advertising Standards Authority and must not conflict with STAT’s aims and priorities. The Advertising Standards Authority's code includes provisions that marketing communications:
- Must be legal, decent, honest and truthful
- Must not bring advertising into disrepute
- Must conform to the Code
- Must respect the principles of fair competition
